November 10, we are premiering a new show here on The Weather Channel—Cantore Stories: On Top of the World . It chronicles the lives of Barrow, Alaska residents who live and survive in one of the most extreme climates in the United States.
During the time we filmed the show, the spring flora was coming out in Atlanta, so I wondered how much sunlight we would have. After all, your talking about a place where the sun goes down in late November and doesn't rise until January. Yes, 67 days of 24 hours of darkness. Oh and did I mention its way below zero during the entire time.... Are you kidding me !!! Talk about a great excuse for a fake and bake...
The people I met seemed comfortable with their situation even though many do suffer depression during that cold. In the show, we profile several people who tell all about why and the world they would live in a place that would be best described as a Freezer.
Learn much more about these amazing people in our new special, Cantore Stories: On Top of the World, premiering November 10 at 10pm Eastern here on The Weather Channel. And if you want to know more, submit your questions about Alaska here, and we may use them on-air.
